Since any ambulance will obviously take at least half an hour to reach, there was no way i could stop this dog or distract him, except that i follow him. After a few k.m. it went straight into a small village on the outskirts of dwarka, where my car could not go. I cant obviously park my car in the middle of nowhere and keep running after him. So the dog could not be helped and i could do nothing but watch him leave in pain. but what bothers me more than that is something else. Our civilisation seems to be in welfare for ages now, and have claimed to develop advanced technologies and blah blah blah......yet we havent yet figured out a way to help one small dog by catching him ourselves till help arrives. This is such a basic problem, but noone seems to have found an answer and we talk of huge projects and plans. as an animal lover i want to know and should know how to catch a dog in distress. There is no use spending years and a lifetime in welfare and not knowing the basics of the job profile that one needs to do. We still work with ages old loop and sack and other methods, which only NGOs carry. How many animal lovers actually carry the loop and sack in their car boot to be able to catch a dog. this is one of the biggest reasons that NGOs also are reluctant to send vans on first complaint, as they are not sure if the journey would be worth the trip or not. I dont know about others, but i feel anyone like us who are interested in helping injured animals must carry something like a fish net or something else similar to be able to catch the animal at once. I am sure if such a practice is initiated by the animal lovers then more lives can be saved and the NGOs would not be that reluctant to send their vans immediately. any suggestions ???? 2) second incidence that happened a little later was also very sad and unfortunate. (see pictures attached) while driving back i saw one spitz lying dead along the median. It was obviously a pet that was abandoned and the poor thing had died of dehydration and shock while it was glued on to the median of the busy road for God knows how long. this is not a new thing, yet what is important is that anyone of us while passing would express our concern and grief for the same but how many of us would actually take the burden to pick that dog and give it a decent burrial. I am sure very little. Even I had to call Sonadi to do it for this Dog, which they happily did, as i didn t have any means to dig a hole and bury the dog. It may sound mad but as a true animal lover one has to take this responsibility to keep some means of disposing off the dead body so it doesnt get squashed and eaten up on the road. This practice must be initiated. otherwise welfare will remain a hobby, time pass and a means to socialise...... will continue to send such the esccentric thoughts to you all. have a great day.... regards rishi dev
