Guest guest
<It is great carelessness and shameful> Great carelessness on whose part ?? and Shameful for whom?? Can someone ask the local state government to invite proposals from scientists and throw open tenders to genetically reproduce some, now that we are almost nearing the end for the 'Gir' Lion. Lions died due to electric shock that the farmer had put in the fencing >around his farm to protect crops> Question: Has the farmer and his men responsible booked by the State Government and taken into custody for the offence? It is most likely that NO action will be taken against the farmer or any encroacher in and around a protected area in India. The world should know that such encroachers are a STRONG VOTE BANK for the local politicians. In many places of Assam forests and protected areas are cleared by not the indigenous tribal people but cleared for a completely different political interest. And thus a politician would never ever try and mess with his VOTE BANK. These issues are no more just 'Wildlife Issues' these are 'Political Issues' and such dirty politics is now practiced NATIONWIDE, almost in every state. India`s wildlife has no hope. We have seen that in the past with the kind of attitude the Indian Government showed as the whole country rose united to demand protection for the Big cat. Nothing fruitful has happened since then. Very recently Valmik Thapar in a television interview said that if this is the attitude towards tigers in India then within one year we shall unfortunately see the last tiger walk away.
