Mumbai - wants to volunteer and also to adopt ferrets

I'm a Belgian resident, moving to Mumbai in a few days for 2 years. At home I

have 2 adopted ferrets (they were rescue animals), but since the rest of my

family is so fond of them, I'm leaving them with my sister. Of course I will

miss them a lot. Therefore I was wondering if ferrets can be adopted somewhere

in India as well. I'm not looking for animals from a pet store. I only want to

adopt a rescue ferret.

 

If I can't find a ferret, do you know of any animal shelters or wildlife

preservation organistaions in Mumbai that I can get involved with. It's just

that I'm crazy about animals, but since I have to work during the day, ferrets

are the only pets I can keep. So if I wouldn't be able to find one, I would love

to volunteer in the evenings or weekends in an animal shelter or likewise.
