Guest guest
Pet Dog Market in Shenyang Witnesses Deadly Decline CRIENGLISH.com 2007-10-24 The pet dog market in Shenyang, northeast China's Liaoning province, is experiencing a worst ever downfall recently, with a chow being sold at only 1,000 yuan, marking a 130 times decline from the rocketing high price of last year. Local dog shopkeepers told Chinese Business Morning View that chow, a type of heavyset dog originated in China, was worth over 130 thousand yuan last year. But now few buyers are interested in it any longer even if it only cost a shabbily lower price. Meanwhile, the business of pet-dog-related products, such as dog dress and dog food, is sluggish too. Many shops were closed up due to the no-longer profitable market. The newspaper said that Beijing's recent intensified control over pet dog population and pet market have largely accounted for the quickly sluggish dog business in Shenyang, as sellers there were mainly supplying dogs to the market in Beijing. But that's not the essential reason. When dogs were in great demand, too many people got involved; this led to the situation nowadays. Sellers cheating consumers is another reason. Mr. Xu, the general secretary of dog trade association in Liaoning province, suggested that dog sellers change their operating method in order to reverse the situation, such as providing physical checkups for dogs. http://english.cri.cn/3100/2007/10/24/1301 (AT) 287287 (DOT) htm National Bingo Night.
