Guest guest
The article by Megha Mann in " The Tribune " dated 26th Nov.2007,shows that Animal Traders Break the Laws under Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1960 and transportation of Animals rules 2001 and Police, Mela Incharge,Animal Husbandary Deptt. officials donot take any action. In case of trains These persons have applied from NOC from Various places in Punjab including Kila Raipur in Ludhiana and Mor Mandi in Bhatinda or Patiala, but no AWBI Clearance was given and the distt authorities were asked to stop this as the cattle headed for UP ,Bihar and w.Bengal are slaughtered as these are dry and invalid. At least in Punjab they have not got any NOC from any of Nominee of Animal Welfare Board of India. The smugglers which are mostly from UP or sometimes Bihar are usually Muslims and carry buffaloes,Male calves or dry and unecomic cows which are sold by farmers due to economic reasons. They Pay bribe to police and Govt. officials and carry these cattle in inhumane manner in dark of Night so that noone may come in their way. They donot get fittnesss certificte from vet,NOC from AWBI representative and carry about 20-30 cattle. They donot bother about the injuries or deaths due to overcrowding,as the animals are to be butchered and saharanpur and surrounding areas have turned up as a beef hub of the region.cattle meat is supplied to zoos all over in northeren region from here .. Many cases have been booked but they change the route frequently and are ready to crush anyone who wants to stop them. Dr.Sandeep K.Jain Chief Coordinator, CAPE-India.
