Why elephants are captured

These elephants are being captured, regardless of whether

there is any profitable destination for them at all, because the

presence of elephants in the forest inhibits economic

activity--farming, logging, home-building, etc.

 

Removing elephants from the forest is a precondition for

taking over their habitat. Anything that can be done with the

elephants afterward is a bonus.
