Guest guest
Guwahati, Tuesday, December 18, 2007 Sensation prevailed in the city of Guwahati this morning as hundreds of fish were seen dying on the banks of the river Brahmaputra. The cause of death of the fish and other species has not yet been ascertained. Officials of the forensic sciences and the pollution control board have collected samples of water from the main area which is near the Deputy Commissioner`s court and carried out a river patrol on a stretch of more than twenty kilometers on the river collecting samples of water. Meanwhile the District administration has issued an advisory to the unusual death of fish in the river and have banned the consumption of fish dying unnaturally, although many people were seen happily collecting the fish and disappearing from the site. Scavengers like crows and kites were also seen preying on the dead fish. More update after the forensic reports are out.
