The Ahimsa Society has alerted about the ruthless killing

of pigeons and mynas in the heart of Trivandrum city. This

crime under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was

committed by a corrupt and ruthless police officer, Mr Johnson,

who now serves as a security officer in the Kerala University.

He poisoned the pigeons in the PRS Apartments building near

Palayam, Trivandrum, Kerala about 5 months ago. He owns a

flat here and seemingly forcefully controls the affairs of

the whole apartment building. The residents have been

living largely in harmony with the sheltered pigeons for

years but when Mr Johnson bought a flat there, and took

control of the affairs of the building by misusing his

position in the police (deputy superintendent of police),

the cruel killing of the hapless pigeons by poisoning was

perpetrated. Several pigeons dropped dead around the flat

though there were not many mortalities in the apartment

building itself. Two Mynas also died apparently due to the

poisoning and this constitute a crime under the Wildlife

Protection Act as Mynas are protected by this Act. Mr Johnson

is also likely to undertake this killing act in the University

buildings if he is not penalised for this crime.

Kindly write to the following authorities to initiate action

against him, on behalf of the murdered pigeons that

always stand for beauty, peace and serenity.

pl modify it as you deem fit. Kerala is already a sorry picture

on animal rights issues, lets not ignore this expanding

scene of cruelty to animals.

Dear Sir,

I am writing this to bring to your kind notice of the blatant

violation of the animal rights law by an officer of the

police force whose duty is actually to enforce such laws of

the land. Mr Johnson, a DYSP, who works as security officer

in Kerala University, has poisoned the pigeons in the PRS

apartments buildings, near Palayam, Trivandrum which

constitutes a crime under section 11 of the Prevention of

Cruelty to Animals Act. He did this about 5 months ago and

numerous pigeons dropped dead around the Nandavanam area.

Two Mynas also were killed by the poison and these birds

are covered by the Wildlife Protection Act.

 

These pigeons have been living in harmony with the residents

of the apartments for years, but their fate changed when

Mr Johnson bought a flat there and took control of the

residents association of the building. He will repeat this

ruthless crime again in the apartment building and try this also in

the university, if he is not punished for this crime. We

earnestly request you to take action against this erring

officer who violates the laws and also spoils the name of

the police force and the university.
