Guest guest Posted December 26, 2007 Report Share Posted December 26, 2007 Nine Females and two male peofowls were found dead in Ladhowal forests in Ludhiana.The Bodies were brought to Vety Hospital .The carcasses were later sent to Regional Disease Diagnostic Research Lab at Jalandhar in Punjab. It is suspected that there may be Two causes :poisioning or Bird flu. Poisioning may be due to consuming seeds swn after treating with pesticides or may be some tribal poachers.The case needs thourough investigation.The matter is serious since Peacock is national Bird and it is protected under sch.I of wildlife Protection Act 1972.
