Guest guest
Link: http://www.assamtribune.com/scripts/details.asp?id=jan1008\letter1* Cruelty to animals * Sir, – With reference to your editorial of December 8, 2007, I would like to extend my whole-hearted support and appreciation for the noble cause. In this connection I would like to draw the attention of the animal lovers to the inhumane slaughter of cattle and buffaloes in the border areas of Assam. Prior to slaughter, these animals are subjected to all sorts of cruelties which can be perpetrated by those human beings who never consider these animals as living creatures. These unfortunate animals are forced to walk in herds for hundreds of kilometres without food and water, and subsequently slaughtered in most inhumane conditions. Unnecessary sacrifices of goats in the religious places also should be added to the list. These facts are known to animal loving NGOs, veterinarians and all other related organisations who have taken pledge to protect the animals against cruelty, but to no avail. The organisations probably do not like to hurt the religious sentiment. However, it is not the question of religion. It should be a protest against inhumanity which should be raised by one and all. If these animals are transported properly and then slaughtered in a humane way, none should raise any objection. – Yours etc., MANU BORA, Rehabari, Guwahati. -- United against elephant polo http://www.stopelephantpolo.com
