Guest guest
Dear All Here is a link to the Trivandrum Corporation Suraksha programme website http://www.surakshatvm.com/suraksha_program.htm This is a very slick site that has obviously cost a lot of money . A pity the money has been spent on advertising as opposed to actually doing something useful. They are still killing on a daily basis and not one street dog has actually been sterilised and put back on the street. ( by their own admission they killed 80% of dogs caught 'due to sickness ' and 're-homed' the other 20%). Even this page of their website shows not their dog-catchers handling dogs , but the dog-catcher from Animal Rescue Kerala ,ARK, (the guy in the stripy shirt) whilst the Trivandrum Corporation were being taught the ABC programme in September 2006 by ARK, even the rickshaw is in fact ARK's rickshaw , not the Coroprations rickshaw . ARK had been promised by Trivandrum Corporation that they would start the ABC programme, only to find that they had been lied to and the training had been so that Trivandrum Corporation 'Veterinary volunteers' could catch and kill safely! If I wrote a fairy story it could not be more remote from the truth than this rubbish! This is reminiscent of Nazi propaganda! Avis Lyons Director of ARK Sent from & #45; a smarter inbox. Guest guest
Avis, that's very bizarre. We are interested in that program as we are currently seeking funding/donors for an ABC program for our part of the Valley here in Kathmandu. There is already one program here (KAT Centre) doing that and they don't kill dogs at all, as far as I know. So are you saying that the site is totally bogus? BTW, that site probably did not cost very much at all, as it's not all that well done and is incomplete. But it does go to show that anyone can put up a site and say anything they want. As for animal welfare agencies saying anything they want, we have experience with that here too, as there is one agency in KTM (name unmentioned) that says it has an ABC program and it does not. It even claims to be the only animal welfare agency in town! How to deal with that, I don't really know. It is sad however, and hurts animals instead of helping.
