Tuesday, January 15, 2008 23:59 IST After getting stars like Alicia Silverstone and Pam Anderson to pose in the buff for the sake of animals, PETA head honcho Ingrid Newkirk hints to Ismat Tahseen that John Abraham could soon join the list Looks like John Abraham might be credited with more than just being a hunk on the silver screen. Everyone knows that he's a vociferous advocate for PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) and now, Ingrid Newkirk, founder and president of the organisation, affirms that John might join the likes of international celebrities Pamela Anderson, Kim Basinger, Dennis Rodman and models Tyra Banks and Imogen Bailey, to pose naked for its campaigns. " It's true. John has told us that if he ever decided to pose nude, it would be for PETA, " states Newkirk. From taking on animal abuse behind closed doors — in laboratories, factory farms, in the clothing trade and in the entertainment industry — to creating eye-catching and controversial protests and advertising campaigns like provocative images of models who would 'Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur' and the more recent spoof on the dairy industry's 'Got Milk?' ads, the 1.8million members of the organisation use every technique they can to focus attention on cruelty to animals. " Revlon, Avon, Clinique and Body Shop have no animal ingredients, neither does Gillette, " she says proudly. The PETA president also states while some of these brash ads might be acceptable abroad, those filmed in India would be made keeping local sentiments in mind. -- United against elephant polo http://www.stopelephantpolo.com
