*SUB: Concern at the increased poaching of Rhino in **Assam***

*Respected Sir,*

* *

*I would like to bring to you kind notice the increase incidence of rhino

poaching in **Assam**, specially in the **Kaziranga** **National

Park**which is being recognised world over as one of the best managed

national

park of the world. In between the year 1998 till 2006, the rhino poaching in

Kaziranga was controlled effectively where in at an average about 4-8 rhinos

were poached. However since 2007 the rhino poaching in and around Kaziranga

increased at an alarming rate where in 20 rhinos were poached in the year

2007 of which 14 were within the national park and other 6 just outside the

national park. *

* *

*I am aware of your support towards wildlife conservation in

**India**specially after the extermination of tigers from Sariska. It

will be really

helpful towards wildlife conservation in **Assam**, if you could kindly seek

a detailed explanation from the Chief Minister of **Assam** with regards to

increase poaching of rhino in Kaziranga since 2007. *

* *

*Illegal wildlife Crime has become the second largest illegal trade in the

world after narcotics and as such it should get high priority in the agenda

of every state government.*

* *

*I hope for your kind consideration in this matter and look forward to your

continued support towards wildlife protection in **India**. *

* *

*Thanking you in anticipation.*

* *

*Yours sincerely,*
