Brown treads green path to bridge gap

NDTV Correspondent

Monday, January 21, 2008 (New Delhi)

On the second day of his India visit, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown

did his bit to try and bridge the divide between the rich and poor countries

of the world on issues of environment and climate change.

He made an offer that countries like India will find hard to refuse. He has

proposed the setting up of an International Environment Transformation Fund

which will help design low carbon industries for poorer countries.

Brown's offer came during an address to CEOs of top organizations.

He also praised India's contribution at the last year's environmental summit

at Bali, where poorer countries argued for easier access to eco-friendly

technologies.
