The herd comprising of more than 100 elephants with calves continued depredation in the area. The herd damaged as many as 30 houses and several granaries in the area. The wild elephants injured one Bipin Kurmi (56) of Bhagedhara Chapori seriously who succumed to his injuries today at Golaghat Civil Hospital. The villagers had to spend sleepless nights along with Forest personnel. Later, the herd reached at Nakkati Chapori last night where they killed one Gunada Dhandia (60) and damaged several houses and granaries. According to the villagers, the herd gheraoed the house, and while other members of the family managed to escape, the old woman was trampled to death.
