1. FROM THE DESK OF HONY. GEN SECRETARY:

The last month has seen a spate of articles being published about PAWS

Thane activities happening under my supervision. It resulted in a lot of

flak wherein many criticized me alleging that I am seeking only

publicity. There are a few who wrote to me stating the same and

expressing their displeasure. But folks, let me put my point forward....

I would like to tell you that the articles published since December are

based on instances / incidents where there was blatant animal cruelty.

To put the record straight, neither my personal profile nor PAWS needs

publicity. What we require is an awareness regarding animal issues and

the sensitivity to handle them. If these issues were being addressed in

all the articles, I am happy about them.

I firmly believe that criticism is easy but creation is difficult. We

welcome your criticism but with suggestions & a helping hand to improve

it. For all the respected critics, try accompanying our ambulance for a

day.

I am sure that you will forget criticizing.

For Animals,

Nilesh Bhanage

3. SOME NOTABLE FIELD CALLS:

## PAWS volunteer Darshana's society members left all the puppies in a

jungle. She used to feed them. Actually the mother of the pups had died

& the pups were being taken care of by Darshna & others in Society's

empty swimming pool. Society then decided to throw the puppies out.

Darshna along with others went to search them & found them near Bhyinder

jungle. They brought them back. We congratulate Darshna for her move.

## PAWS volunteer Kunal Chedda rescued a small baby monkey which was

abandoned by someone at Diva station. The monkey was hospitalized at

Thane SPCA and another monkey rescued by him on 16th was hospitalized in

Bombay SPCA.

## PAWS well-wisher Sandip Sarmalkar called on 1st January, when he

spotted a snake in Dombivli MIDC area; he immediately called our

secretary Mr. Nilesh. It was Russell's viper, a poisonous snake. Nilesh

& Sandip immediately rescued it & released it in wild habitat. This was

good start for rescue on first day of the year.

## This month PAWS office got lots of calls for injured birds. On 6th

January our volunteer Kunal rescued a owl from Kalyan market wherein

crows were attacking, On maker Sankranti day 1 owl was rescued by

secretary nilesh & on 28th December another owl rescued by PAWS. One

Crane was rescued by HUTCH Dombivli Gallery Team & handed over to us.
