*Wounded tiger found in Madhya Pradesh*

NDTV Correspondent

Monday, February 18, 2008 (Satna)

Days after the depressing report on the alarming decline in the number of

tigers in India, the authorities in Madhya Pradesh's Satna district have

found a seven-foot tiger badly wounded in the left front leg.

It is not clear whether the wound is a result of a gunshot by poachers.

The tiger is being moved to the forest hospital in Bhopal.

In another incident in Kerala, two tiger pelts were found in a raid on

Sunday, indicating that the tigers had been poached.

Also, in Bengal, a tiger strayed into a village from the Sunderbans Reserve.
