1. FROM THE DESK OF HONY. GEN SECRETARY:

For the last 3 months we concentrated more on awareness & educational

programs. This helped to enroll volunteers, spread the message of compassion

towards animals and helped to raise much needed funds. We are very happy

about the fact that now people are calling from different organizations,

management institutes etc for their project work, to conduct session on

animal welfare & to deliver guest lectures. PAWS aim to spread awareness

among the masses is now getting fulfilled.

However this is just a step forward in the never ending journey & we realize

that there are miles to go before we sleep! So if you wish to be a part of

this journey then please get in touch with me on 9820161114 or Anuradha on

9869376238. We @ PAWS are always happy to help in spreading awareness &

conduct such programs in your colony, school, college or institute.

Yours for animals,

Nilesh Bhanage

to safety. Now all the puppies are safe in custody of Neeta.

5. MONTHLY ANTI-RABIES DRIVE – DOMBIVLI WEST:

This month's Anti-Rabies drive held on 2nd February was hosted by our core

volunteer Lekha Lodaya. Lekha is with P@WS since the past 3 years. She

balances her college studies with her social work beautifully. It is a

matter of pride for us that she looks after more then 40 stray animals in

her area.

The anti-rabies drive coincided with her birthday. That called for a double

celebration. We vaccinated more then 52 stray dogs/cats in her colony within

an hour. Over 17 volunteers were present for this mega event.

Dr. Datta Raje vaccinated the entire area dogs. Vety. Students Anahita Kumar

& Laita Gopalan along with Lekha Lodaya, Prasad Phadke, Kunal Chheda, Sonali

Bagde, Bhakti Shah, Darshna Sonpara, Sourabh Chougule, Arifa, Kaizad

Daruwalla, and Mansi Bhanage trustees Anuradha Ramawamy, Nilesh Bhanage,

Staff Nitin Khadse & Mohan Chouhan participated in the camp.

1. SOCIETY PET DOGS / STRAY FEEDING ISSUES:

# Last month, PAWS team fought against the society of Vishal Murlidhar

wherein society members had raised an objection against him for keeping

pets. PAWS wrote a strong letter condemning the action and also involved the

media. The newspaper clipping was circulated widely. As a result we received

a very huge response & the secretary received calls from Fizzah of IDA

India, Snehal Bhatt of GSPCA, Suparna Ganguly of CUPA, Manoj Oswal of PFA

Pune and Sunish of PAWS Mumbai. They were keen to see the letters which our

secretary duly forwarded to them. Smt. Maneka Gandhi also enquired about the

same.

#Our member Mr. Sourabh Edwankar from Borivli faced a similar problem

regarding feeding stray dogs. Again, PAWS wrote to the concerned society.

#Ms. Amita Kulkarni used to feed several stray dogs in her society near

CKP Hall area wherein the society people took objection. PAWS intervened in

the matter again & the problem was solved amicably.

#Ms. Mansi Bhanage used to take her pet dog out for a walk everyday. The

neighboring society members took objection to it & used filthy language.

Along with volunteers Sourabh Chougule & Prasad Phadke, Mansi went to

Ramnager Police Station and filed a complaint against the members. Since

then she never faced such problems.
