Guest guest
Hi friends, In any movement or protest supporting conservation, it is necessary to get mass support as Jaidevbhai says. One of the tool that can be used is to create a online petition where in visitors endorse their support by signing in that petition. We send out messages for support to various groups and e-lists to endorse the petition. Please visit for full details and creating petition. WWW.Petitiononline.com <http://www.petitiononline.com/> BTW very similar boating site is developed at Iswariya lake near Rajkot which is also a very good birding place. But in absence of committed people (including me & excluding Ashokbhai Mashru) the boating has begun only to destroy it. Let's not repeat the same with Thol. In one of my previous mails i was critical of tourists who expect a 5-star facility at every ecotourism site. We need good interpretation centres with trained volunteers with spotting scopes rather than boats and resturants. Plastics should be totally banned at all such sites and sale of local food stuff like rotla and sabji should be encouraged. That will imporve the participation of local populace also. Good clean drinking water should be made available instead of colas. > Are any of the officials listening?? > DEVKAR > > >Hi all! > > Just sent email to Pradeep Khanna. We need to make a strong protest against this move else Thol will gain more homosapiens & lose the avians! > > I have seen a rather swanky boat lying at Wadhwana - while questioning the forest dept person, he gave a rather evasive reply about using it only for collecting water samples. Unfortunately Thol's example can well be replicated elsewhere if we do not raise our voice. > > > > Happy birding & strong protesting!!! > > Avi > > > >Jaidev Dhadhal dhadhaljaidev wrote: > > Friends, > >AKANKSHA OF PARAM AMDAVAD ORKUT COMMUNITY HAS POSTED FOLLOWING MESSAGE, WHICH IS SHOCKING, > > > > " i agree with you. Last sunday when i was at thol, i found that the forest department has allowed boating in the lake. And the visitors were shouting and making a lot of nuisense. It felt really bad. Once, thol used to be an isolated place where the only visitors were a few bird watchers. Now it has become a total picnic spot. " > > > >What Akanksha has stated is very serious issue. Thol sanctuary is very much different from the NalSarovar Waterbody. Boating should not be allowed in any case in this wetland. Every such steps in a sanctuary can be taken only in welfare of wildlife (birds in this case) but no activity in any sanctuary can be allowed which will effect adverse to the wild life. We all may mail a protest message in this regard to our Principal CCF Mr Pradeep Khanna to stop this activity immediatly. > >Please mail your protest message to him on following mail id, > >Pradeepkhanna10 > >copy of the same can be put on this community, or please send a copy to, > >sep_hngu > >so the action groups formed at Hingolgadh summit can work out further action on the issue, > >Regards, > >Jaidev
