Global Campaign kicks off in Amsterdam and London

The global Stop Monkey Business Campaign, which includes partners in six

European countries as well as India, started off in Amsterdam on February 1

2008. A group of protestors demonstrated against the export of rhesus

monkeys for biomedical research at the Nepal Consulate. The protesters

carried a banner saying " Animal Testing is a Crime against the Defenseless "

as well as a toy plane with a sign saying STOP.

The campaign continued on February 23 in London, where fifteen protesters

spend an afternoon demonstrating in front of the Nepal Embassy. They

carried playcards showing a bleeding lab monkey and the words 'Nepal's

Shame'. The protesters met with an embassy representative, who promised to

convey their concerns to the Nepal government. Demonstrations are planned

in four other European countries, India
