If you are a visitor to a National Park and you want to be a responsible tourist then this series is for you. In this special internet series we showcase resorts that have been audited by TOFT- Travel Operators for Tigers- a campaign aimed at promoting responsible tourism. These are resorts located close to tiger habitats and have ranked high on the audit because of their practise of encouraging garbage recycling , employment of local people and contributing funds to nature conservation. In this series on ibnlive.com we have highlighted the experiences of people who run these resorts, what its like to be surrounded by wildlife and how tourism can help wildlife conservation. We have also provided a list of properties that ranked high in the audit conducted by TOFT. Do keep in mind CNN-IBN does not endorse these properties in anyway but is showcasing them based on an audit conducted by TOFT. Across the country there will be many such properties that are engaging in eco-tourism. If you would like to share any of your experiences in wilderness areas or of properties that are practicing eco-tourism, send us your ideas and suggestions. ABOUT TOFT The Travel Operators for Tigers is a campaign initiative aimed at a collective and inclusive UK travel and tourism response to the tiger crisis in India. Tiger tourism derives hundreds of millions of pounds, rupees and dollars of revenue for travel operators, accommodation and service providers in India yet a tiny, almost negligible, fraction of this is currently reinvested in the conservation of the very parks and reserves you will enjoy as part of your holiday. TOFT works closely with resorts around the country and its members adhere to a strict code of conduct which which ensures not only better experiences for you as a traveller but a better long term future for Indian wildlife. -- United against elephant polo http://www.stopelephantpolo.com
