Petition : baby goat was sacrificed by the Indian cricketer Dhoni

 

" Today, on the 10th of March, at 3 PM, at the Silli temple in Ranchi, a

kid (as in baby goat ) was sacrificed by the Indian cricketer Dhoni to

accelerate his success in the world of sports.

 

In full view of the media, along with the voiceless animal, who gave

his blood and life for the success of someone he had no clue about,

rationalism was put on the guillotine while blind faith and crudeness

were given a pat on the back. This was telecast by the India TV. "

*Dear Herma,*

* This is yet another example of the brutality of conventional

religion, accept it or not. Unfortunately people still do believe that

religion is a sacrosanct concept that is to be revered no matter what

cruelty is involved by following its precepts. The futility of animal

sacrifice is obvious to any person who thinks logically and rationally. But

I repeat, quoting the astronomer Carl Sagan, " YOU CANNOT CONVINCE A BELIEVER

OF ANYTHING, FOR THEIR BELIEF IS NOT BASED ON EVIDENCE; IT IS BASED ON A

DEEP SEATED NEED TO BELIEVE. " And as Peter Singer mentioned, conventional

religion is the principal foe of animal rights. If animal rights is ever to

attain a semblance of success, we must get rid of the traditional religious

tradition. In India, religious animal sacrifice is granted exemption in the

Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. What a tragedy! But as I said, inspite

of all this, believers will still selectively quote religion to defend its

influence. Thankfully, a zoologist named Richard Dawkins is taking on
