Guest guest
AntiFurSociety [AntiFurSociety ] On Behalf Of fluffydasha Thursday, March 20, 2008 12:21 AM AntiFurSociety [AntiFurSociety] BEIJING CAT ROUNDUP I get a lot of questions about the Chinese cruel actions against the pure souls we call " animals, " and more so now with the cat roundup for the Olympics. Here's one of my rushed answers since my time goes 100% to " hands on " help rather than philosophizing about what it all means on the scheme of things. =========================== Dear ........ I just heard from one of the people I work with in Beijing about the grassroots groups that are becoming united to speak with the Chinese government to offer them to help to " solve " the cat problem. NOT a word of criticism or things will get worse. I am also waiting to hear from others there so I can send them aid to help the animals. On emails to your listings, please emphasize the need to people in China so they can help the animal's cause, rather than make horrible criticisms to the Chinese government because it will only make things worse for all involved, specially the animals. About the dog killing for food in China and indeed many other Asian countries-- It is NO news to the media no more or less than the horrific Chinese fur farms where animals alive are even skinned alive. The media does not broadcast about it anymore mainly because it does not sell newspapers, and the Media is supported by animal abusers (meat industry, pharmaceutical, dairy, etc etc etc) so these are things (dirt) they throw under the carpet. It is good that many people keep writing to the media so they know people out there are upset about it, they may even publish one thing here another but that's all we can hope for. About relying on a BOYCOTT TO CHINA is another futile attempt because only AR people will join a boycott and we are such a small minority that it is like a flea on the elephant. Just take a trip to WalMart and you see what I'm talking about. Everyone is flocking to Beijing for the Olympics, and the list goes on. Based on this realization, last year I began working with animal people in China to help them help themselves. Trust me, there are VERY kind people in China who need our help so they can grow strong enough to help the animals and also attract more people to do so. Finally, YES, we should keep informing the public and forwarding the information to heavens and earth and encourage people to actually help animal people in China. Animals in China will never stand a chance if Chinese people within China do not begin to reject animal cruelty. Honestly, I am fast walking away from those groups that are out there only to go ranting in bouts of rage against China, calling names etc. and do not move one finger to help. It only makes things worse for animals and brings a bad name to AR people who are sincerely trying to help. "
