These ambassadors changed their nationality from Indian to Bangladeshi to cement ties. These horses belong to the Indian Army. But they have now joined the Bangladesh Army and emigrated next door for good. The Bangladesh Army chief asked for horses when he was in India last month. The Indian Army promised to deliver and has now kept its word. ''We are giving Bangladesh two horses and four mares for breeding and improved horsemanship in that country,'' said Col Mihir Bhattacharya, Indian Army. The horses swapped nationalities on Wednesday at Petrapole on the Bengal Bangladesh border. They were given a warm welcome and promised the best care. ''We have built special stables for these horses and we will take very good care of them,'' said Mohd Yusuf Ali, Bangladeshi horse trainer. Diplomats come in all shapes and sizes but these six horses are easily the most unusual ambassadors of Indian goodwill. -- United against elephant polo http://www.stopelephantpolo.com
