GEN SECRETARY: A peculiar incident took place recently. I received a call from a person informing me that a dog was injured & needed urgent rescue help from PAWS. As usual, toeing our call of duty, PAWS rescued the dog, but unfortunately, the dog died inside the ambulance on its way to the hospital. Later, we came to know that a private vet was treating the dog which was lying on the road for over a week. He charged the volunteer his fees and the cost of the treatment. When the case became serious and out of his control, he suggested that the volunteer call PAWS. Ultimately, the caller blamed PAWS for the death of the dog. I would like to issue a stern reminder to all, that such money minded & sweet talking vets should not be entertained by PAWS volunteers or care-takers of strays. All are requested to kindly call our volunteers who are already trained in administering first-aid & in case the animal is in severe pain then please directly call PAWS ambulance. We do not accept responsibility for animal deaths resulting from treatment by private vets. If the volunteers prefer these vets, then please do not call PAWS for help. We have many other opportunities to serve. Thank You! Yours for animals, Nilesh Bhanage 2. URGENT ATTENTION: PAWS is always in need of funds as it is largely dependent on local donations from animal lovers, volunteers & valuable supporters like you.
