Guest guest
Stop State Sacrifice Apart from misusing money set aside for nature preservation, the King, by sacrificing five animals at Dakchhinkali, once more shows his disregard for Nepal's non-human beings. Has not enough blood been spilled in and outside the royal palace? May the new leadership move away from outdated traditions which strengthen the vested interest of those who benefit from superstition-based beliefs and rituals. As Nepal is moving ahead to become a more fully democratic, egalitarian society, it is crucial to challenge age-old beliefs which drain the resources of the poor and needy. Cruelty against animals harms society as a whole; it signals and normalises insensitivity in children who can become numb to the suffering of living beings. This Dasain let the new leadership show that no innocent being needs to be sacrificed for the welfare of the New Nepal.
