Guest guest Posted June 4, 2008 Report Share Posted June 4, 2008 South China Morning Post 4th June 2008 Some 3.66 million pigs were killed by the earthquake in Sichuan province, the country's largest producing region, causing the region's pork output to fall by nearly 10 per cent this year, the agricultural ministry said. The number of dead pigs is more than double the ministry's previously reported 1.5 million. The province estimated that it would slaughter 10 million fewer pigs this year, according to a report from the Sichuan animal husbandry bureau. Reuters.
