Guest guest
Further to Jill's sound advice about the importance of attending the Asia for Animals conference, we need to understand that there will be no end to disasters in the world. The next one is probably on the horizon now. Cancelling the conference would provide no solution to the massive problems in Myanmar or China. And frankly I don't really see a win in providing support for a system of animal agriculture or in " rescuing " animals who will end up in just the same condition (hungry and thirsty and probably on their last leg) in a slaughterhouse one day, which is the extent of the animal relief in Myanmar so far. I think money is better spent trying to rescue dogs and cats in China, because at least that is providing a visible and positive example for the people, and yet the fate of most of these rescued dogs and cats is probably to spend the rest of their lives in an overcrowded shelter. Putting out one fire after another in the form of disaster relief does not provide a solution to the mostly institutionalized animal exploitation in the world. Animal activists need to learn from experts and from each other and hammer out some fresh new approaches, and we had better hope there are some. Kim -- Kim Bartlett, President of Animal People, Inc. Guest guest
How about the idea of formation 'Disaster Relief Fund for ASIA' in AFA Conference 2008? The 'Leader' NGOs & 'Sponsors' of AFA2008 can equally contribute to the fund so that disaster victim - arrogant animals can get help.
