Guest guest
For some reason when the Press Trust of India says ³It¹s a fact² I am not convinced. If it¹s true, then yes this might bode well for those monkeys being exported from Nepal and other countries for experimentation in US Labs. However, I am sure that many folks at Elephant Polo games are also wearing a Good-Luck Ganesh around their neck too, so, having a charm does not make a person charming. But here is a statement that perhaps shows that Animals will be better off with an Obama whitehouse then a Bush/McCain one: http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D8U74PLG0 & show_article=1. Obama also apparently sponsored a bill while in the Senate that would prevent horse slaughter in Illinois. But the Bill never passed, so not sure what inferences can be made there, even if he indeed ³sponsored² the bill or was also a participant it¹s death. Dekalb's Cavel International Horse Slaughtering Plant may still be open for business even rebuilding after a fire; but perhaps Merrit can report and confirm. It will be a great day when Animal Rights becomes a mainstream political issue that politicians would debate openly in America and other democracies around the world. So yes, go ahead and push ur candidates to answer questions in public about their stance then let us all know how it goes... Azam *Obama seeks Hanuman's blessings in race to White House* Link: http://www.ndtv.com/convergence/ndtv/story.aspx?id=NEWEN20080052436 Press Trust of India Monday, June 9, 2008 (New York) It's unusual. But, it's a fact. Barack Obama, the presumptive Democratic party's presidential nominee, is seeking the blessings of Lord Hanuman in his battle for the White House. The 46-year-old senator from Illinois, who defeated his rival Hillary Clinton<http://www.ndtv.com/convergence/ndtv/story.aspx?id=NEWEN20080052436# >in an epic 17-month long electoral battle for Democratic party <http://www.ndtv.com/convergence/ndtv/story.aspx?id=NEWEN20080052436#>nomina tion, carries a ''tiny monkey god'' apparently representing ''Hanuman'' with him for good luck. A recent photo posted on Time's White House Photo of the Day collection shows the first ever Black-American nominee in the race to the White House carries with him a bracelet belonging to an American soldier deployed in Iraq, a gambler's lucky chit, a tiny monkey god, tiny Madonna and child. That ''tiny monkey god,'' of course, appears to be a statue of the Hindu monkey god, Hanuman, says the posting but editors and the photographer has not identified it as such. Obama, whose father was a Kenyan and mother a white woman from Kansas, spent initial days of his life in Indonesia where Hinduism is a popular religion. In addition to a lucky penny, Republican candidate<http://www.ndtv.com/convergence/ndtv/story.aspx?id=NEWEN2008005243 6#>John McCain carries a lucky nickel, and a lucky rubber band, which he wears around his wrist. -- United against elephant polo http://www.stopelephantpolo.com http://www.freewebs.com/azamsiddiqui
