Guest guest
It is rare that animal welfare work is recognised as a main stream activity worthy of being acknowledged, let alone something to be awarded for. I congratulate Shirley McGreal on her most well deserved award as I do the other recipients in the recent past like Jill Robinson and Alan Knight. I am sure that most of us in the animal welfare movement salute these heroes and are inspired by their work. S. Chinny Krishna
Guest guest
Certainly those who are appointed and conferred ranks under the Order of the British Empire have to be 'HEROES' in their respective field to be able to get that recognition. We are fortunate enough to have some BRAVE HEROES in the field of animal welfare who despite being a DAME, an MBE and an OBE never compromised with the Royal family when it came to voicing for animal abuse. I salute them for their firm stand, the courage and attitude displayed in a crisis which is far GREATER than any recognition that has been conferred to them. They are simply awesome and would never allow a recognition come in the way of the work that they do. They are: 1. Dame Daphne Sheldrick MBE, MBS, DVMS, 1992 Global 500 Laureate 2. Jill Robinson, MBE, Founder and CEO, Animals Asia Foundation 3. Belinda Wright, OBE, Executive Director, Wildlife Protection Society of India ( WPSI ) 4. Virginia McKenna, OBE, Chair of the Trustees, The Born Free Foundation All of them spoke out in their capacity against the 2006 'Elephant Polo' tournament that was being organised by a close relative of the Duchess of Cornwall. They expressed their views as to why they thought it was wrong on the part of someone to have engaged in an unnatural form of entertainment that finds animals in pain despite the fact that it had a ROYAL connection. I am sure the examples set by these 'HEROES ' says it all. regards, Azam On Wed, Jun 18, 2008 at 12:26 PM, NileshBhanage <NileshBhanage wrote: > Hi All, > > We congratulate Shirley for her achievement. > > 's e-mail clearly says that he respect the work of Shirley & > award.
