Hi,

With all due respect I don't see what this issue has to do with Asia.

Austria is a Central European country as far as I remember. To many

issues lately are not related to Asia, or some too much focused on

one country in particular, the use of the country codes is therefore very

nice so you can hit the " delete " button immediately.

I hope we have no more issues unrelated to Asia.

Edwin

Dear All,

I have several letters in my inbox concerning what should and should not be

passed by me for publication on AAPN. It is my policy not to publish letters

that generate more heat than light. I think it is sufficient to restate the

long-standing policy which I intend to continue.

Some issues are clearly of immediate relevance to all Asian readers. Some

issues are clearly not. There is a grey area in the middle where I have to

use my judgment.

Readers of AAPN are recommended to to general AR lists (eg

AR-NEWS) if they want to keep up with events on other continents and join in

world-wide campaigns, petitions, etc. But occasionally an outside issue is

of considerable importance to Asia in that, if ignored, it could impact

Asian countries.

I rejected the Austrian issue when it was first posted but then came a post

pointing out that many Asian governments would like to emulate the Austrian

authorities so I let it pass. But I think we are all now aware of this issue so

I shall close the thread.

And, yes, please always put the country code in the subject line.

John,

Moderator, AAPN.
