(LK) STOP CRUELTY ON ANIMALS

Dear Sir / Madam

 

I'm Taniya Blossom Fernando , from Srilanka. I saw your website, while surfing

net , looking for , Animal Right Organisations.I'm really happy to see such a

active organization. First of all , I would like to introduce my self.I'm a 36

year old , single parent, my daughter is 18 years old, who is doing her software

engineering degree at APIIT Institute in Srilanka (which is affiliated with

University of Staffordshire UK ). Me and my daughter , we both are vegetarians,

I work for the Chamber of Construction Industry Srilanka , as the Head of

Marketing Division.

 

I really love animals , and I want to help them as much as I can, even now I

have 2 stray cats at home (which were condemned to death , and I managed to save

them ). And I have saved (contributed many times) to save cattle.

 

Cattle are inhumanly tethered in streets of Colombo srilanka , for sale and

slaughter.This disgusting sight makes compassionate people mentally sick, and

causes great pain of mind.besides they may be stolen cattle or  ,  sick

animals .Some baby calf's are sucking milk from their mother's .Its a violation

of the laws.But I regret to note the failure of all the Post Governments failed

to protect these innocent animals.

 

All the cattle are slaughtered so brutally. I don't want to write , and remember

those sad ways.

 

My idea is to raise some funds and start a society to save at least 30 , 40

animals per month.

They price a animal grown adult , At Srilankan Rupees 20000.(about 185 US $).

One of the person who wish to join the (Save the Cattle Organization ) is a

vetenary surgeon , and a lawyer who fights for animal rights in srilanka. I do

wish to register this society. And elect a committee.

 

I have joined the my space , face book , mainly to get the support , from all

over the world .

 

I shall be extremely grateful if your organization could kindly support me.

Dear Taniya,

 

I am really happy to hear your wishes to help cattle. I would like to send

you my views on this and how you could go about doing this.

 

Here is what I think ­ lets look at another scenario for a moment ­ if you

wanted to save chickens ­ which are also innocent animals and which are also

treated very cruelly, would it help to save 50 chicken? Not really because

if the number of chicken being eaten remains the same ­ the number of

chicken being killed is the same ­ whether you save 50 or not.

 

The same is with cows. If you really want to save cows, then you have to

work towards getting people to understand the reality and eat less beef and

drink less milk ­ or of course altogether stop. This is the philosophy of a

vegan.

 

This is why we have to develop intelligent programs to help people realise

how they can stop consuming the products of exploited animals and what they

can use instead and how they can be even more healthy.

 

We have developed some such programs and would be willing to share with you

if this idea suits you.
