Guest guest
1) Indian Ratel; 2) Ratel / Honey Badger in Africa & its reputed partnership with Honeyguide Bird Remember reading about the Ratel or Honey Badger in the books when I was a kid and watching documentaries where in the African subspecies its reputed relationship was discussed with the Honeyguide Bird of Africa. Both fond of eating honey, the Honeyguide bird is believed to guide African Ratels (and other mamals and humans too) to Beehives which the Honey Badger (Ratel) breaks and the Honeyguide birds eats the leftovers of after the ratel has feasted. Here is more information from the Web: Indian Ratel or honey badger from the Wildlife Institute of India (WII) website: http://www.wii.gov.in/envis/envisdec99/ratelbadger.htm Ratel of Honey Badger from theWikipediathe free Encyclopedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honey_Badger Honeyguide Bird http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honeyguide Greater Honeyguide Bird http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greater_Honeyguide#External_links YouTube Videos: *ratel/honey badger * HONEY GUIDE BIRD Guiding ratel/honey badger to a beehive * Honey Badger-The Most Fearless Animal on Earth http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c81bcjyfn6U & feature=related * Honey Guide Bird(Amazing Partnership) Guiding humnas to Beehive http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mVtSYRmlirg & annotation_id=annotation_736699 & featu\ re=iv * BBC Talking to Strangers: honey birds http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SN5igku_kGk & feature=related * Lesser Honeyguide (Indicator minor) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTXKeBx0I_8 & feature=related Atul Singh Nischal ASIATIC LION GROUP http://pets.Asiatic_Lions/ ----- Forwarded Message ---- amit jethwa <amit_jethava asiaticlion <asiatic_lions >; gujaratbirds <gujarat_birds > Cc: editorial; d_kapil; abhishekvk2002; ajayrami; bharatjethva2000; dhadhaljaidev; dnarajkot; dnarajkot; haresh_pandya; hareshpandya; himanshu.kaushik; himanshu.kaushik; hiraldd; jaago.gujarat; jaidevjai; jaidevjaidev; kotecha_kishore; kulsumyusuf; lavkumarkhachar; maheshshah1944; manish.loris; paryavaranmitra; prernabindra; prernasinghbindra; rajkot; rdkamboj; richa.bansal; rupamjain; sauaajtak; setumail; shyam.parekh; bharat.desai; tina.parekh; vashi_pari Wednesday, April 15, 2009 6:09:40 AM [Asiatic_Lions] indian retal resque Yesterday Gir East Forest Division, Jasadhar range staff resqued indian ratel from open well in Ghodavadi forest settlement village. This is important news for sighting of indian ratel but shameful to resque such endangered species from open well situated at forest settlement village. I would like to bring your kind attention to that forest settlement village is under control of forest department for all activities like revenue, birth and death registration etc. If you require more information please contact any time.
