Dear Nilesh,

In my opinion, Manoj has answered for all of us. I am not

perfect in my approach just as most others, individuals and organisations.

There are certainly issues that need to be highlighted and I thank you again

for raising this. However there is no yardstick for what is acceptable,

personally and professionally. As Manoj succinctly says, we should agree and

cooperate wherever possible. Regards,

Organisations alone should not be permitted to qualify as policy makers on

this issue.

Please include the voices of ordinary commoners like me on this as well.

My view:

" Vegetarian to begin with, but with a pledge to turn Vegan asap " .

This is not too difficult a task if one wants to work for the upliftment of

animals and treat them with respect and dignity.

Having said that my answer to Nilesh's question is:

>Do we have rights to educate people on Science, Environment

& Wildlife Conservation where in kill domestic birds / animals

in our kitchens?<

*Any organisation/ individual doing so would self expose its double

standards in no time.*

*We have many examples.*

Can anyone justify 'Sustainable use of animals'????? Perhaps a reading of the

book 'Animals in Peril- How 'Sustainable Use is wiping out Wildlife of the

World' by John Hoyt, might explain the reasons behind it and how to curb it.

According to Hoyt this book is dedicated to all who respect the place of animals

on this planet and (most importantly) understand the value of life!

I quiet agree with Azam's views. We not only should educate ppl to turn vegan

but also tell them the reason as to why it would be beneficial for

everything.......while browsing the net i found this news item that might shed

light as to why we should turn vegan if not a full-fledged veggie...On the basis

of this article we can tell ppl how imp is it to turn veggie/vegan for the sake

of sustaining our planet and the life that it encompasses! Apart frm that I

guess eating a fellow living creature is just not very 'appeasing'!

In the words of Albert Schweitzer, 'The thinking man must oppose all cruel

customs no matter how deeply rooted in tradition and surrounded by a halo. When

we have a choice, we must avoid bringing torment and injury into the life of

another, even the lowliest creature; to do so is to renounce our manhood and

shoulder a guilt which nothing justifies. "

GO vegetarian once a week29 June 2009, 10:44pm IST

Eat one less meat-based meal a week will help not only the planet but also your

diet. It requires 2,500 gallons of water to produce one pound of beef.
