The move aims to ensure the safety of the tigress and her two cubs that are in the area near the railway line since Friday night. “After the tiger attack, we have prohibited movement in the area. We also asked the railway officials to slow down the trains to ensure the safety of the animals,” said RK Singh, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Katerniaghat. Divisional Railway Manager DRM (NE) Ashok Kumar Singh, however, said, “We are yet to receive any request from the forest department. The trains passing through the area travel at a speed of 30 km per hour and we do not need to slow them further.” A strict vigil is being maintained in the area, as the forest department fears angry villagers may attack the big cat. The tigress had attacked Shivram (20), when he was passing through the forest between the Bichiya and Bahraich railway tracks on Friday. He is undergoing treatment at the Trauma Centre in Lucknow. -- http://www.stopelephantpolo.com http://www.freewebs.com/azamsiddiqui
