Leopard pelts worth Rs 1.15 lakh seized

BELGAUM: Rural police arrested four poachers near Desur village and seized

leopard pelts worth Rs 1.15 lakh from them on Thursday.

 

The accused have been identified as Shivaji Ishwar Hosurkar and Baliram

Nagappa Kumbar of Ganebail, Vijay Gangaram Patil of Kuppatgiri and Arun

Yashwant Gadakari of Pimpale.

 

According to the police, the accused had brought the pelts from Castle Rock

forest area. A case has been registered at Belgaum rural police station

under Wild Life Protection Act.

 

After arresting the poachers, the police team comprising dySP S R Naidu, CPI

Vishwanath Kulkarni, and PSI Shrikant Totagi produced the accused before the

court.
