The arrested have been identified as Srinivas of Kundapur, Chennapattana taluk and Basavaraj of Kabbanahalli in Mandya. Bannerghatta deputy conservator of forests Vanashree Vipin Singh said the two had not disclosed anything other than saying the tusk was given to them by Papu alias Umesh of Kundapura village. " The matter is still under investigation and since the raid was conducted in Ramanagar sub-division, the case has been transferred to Ramanagar assistant conservator of forests,'' she said. The four persons, who escaped during the raid, include Papu, his brother Sudarshan, Aslam, who works in a garage at Kadambahalli, and Mushraf of Mungadahalli in Chennapattana taluk.
