I started this group last year, and with help of many members, we have successfully helped several rescuers in China, in Beijing and Shanghai. I have a page on my website (which is not quite updated for lack of time) that gives you an idea of the work we are trying to do to help animals in China. I am happy to report that this group is rapidly reaching credibility. I would like to invite all of you to join us online to share your experiences as well as help us brainstorm ways to better help with the small resources that are available to each one of us: http://pets.People4ChineseAnimals/ I will be sending each one of you, an invitation to join to make it easier on you. Hope to see all in the group, so we can together help our animal friends in China. Rosa Close - YanLuguan <luguan_y RE: [ARC] FW: A message from Portugal , Europe for animals protection That is the sad truth. There are right now many humane societies working to change that. These animal welfare societies were hardly known a few years ago, but they are mushrooming in all the major cities in China. The way to help include suggest EU (if you have any connection) to push China to impose to adopt more international acceptable humanitarian standards and try to connect that with importing agricultural products from China. You can of course also provide financial support to the groups working within China to gradually change that. Compared with most EU countries, China is a century behind but the change is coming and clearly the coming is accelerating. I´m a member of several associations here which protect animals. The most important action of these associations is taking care of animals from the streets were they were abandoned, are hungry and sick. There are a lot of families that find a pet on this associations to take home and to love. Of course we also protect them from other cruel acts but fortunately, we do not include pets on our meals. I know that we have to be aware of differences between cultures and countries all around the world. But we are living on the XXI century and it is hard to see what is happening in such developed one as China. Unfortunately, if People don´t respect each other, how can they respect an animal? Please find in attachment a video that has reached Portugal. I apologize for the confidence but I have cried for long hours after seeing such cruel images. It is hard to be so far away knowing that I can´t take any action to help such innocence animals. Is your association aware of this acts? Can you help them in any way? I would be very happy to have a reply of this mail. Do not consider this as an offense to your country. I can tell you ,for instance, that my father´s wife is Chinese and is living in Portugal. We respect your community here. Thank you in advance. Please also accept my congratulations for your association´s work.
