The ¡§cruel slaughter¡¨ of cats for food must be stopped, a group of about 40 animal lovers said yesterday in Beijing. Media reported recently that thousands of cats are rounded up each week and sent to Guangdong province where they end up in restaurant kitchens, the protesters said outside the Guangdong government¡¦s office in the capital.
