dear animal lovers, you all will be happy to learn that a twenty member team

with their Chairperson, Sangeeta Goswami of People For Animals, Guwahati, Assam

left Guwahati on the midnight of Sunday(21 -12-2008) as they always do every

year, was on their way to check vehicles that leave for Nagaland early in the

morning with dogs ,frogs etc from Assam to be slaugtered illegally for

Christmas, but fortunately there were nothing to rescue as no vehicles were

found with these things and the public told that they do not allow nagas and

also locals to catch dogs etc any longer. On their way back to Guwahati at 9pm of

22-12-08,they spotted a camel tied to the bark of a tree,on asking the caretaker

who made it walk for long distances, told us it was brought there for a wedding

feast, the camel and the person along with all the members of PFA walked for six

kms back to the Nowgong town that was around six kms.from the spot where the

camel was found. At the Nowgong PS (some two hundred kms from Guwahati) a case

was filed and with the help of the Superintendent of Police(Nitul Gogoi) the

camel was escorted to Guwahati and is now at the Chairperson, Sangeeta Goswami's

house and is being taken care of. This camel will fly to Delhi and find a place

at the people For animals, Delhi shelter at Shivaji Park(a new years gift from

PFA guwahati to Smt.Maneka Gandhi)
