Sometimes I think a quiet word to those who may not have realised their

mistake may be not only more appropriate but more effective. Sincerely

hoping I don't make any slip-ups . . .

What about this Azam?

-The secretary of palakkad SPCA in Kerala has been the Secretary of the

Cattle Racers Club. The AWBI some years back tried in vain to remove him from

the post and asked him to resign from either of the posts of SPCA or the

Cattle Racers Club. The AWBI Secretary a few years back has intimated the

Palakkad District Collector that the Secretary should be removed from the

post and the SPCA revamped.

Nothing happened.

Instead the Animal Husbandry Minister himself, this year bestowed this SPCA

with the best AWO award of the state.Apart from conducting the cattle races

this SPCA has conducted a great " Gajamela " (the ceremonial parading of a

large number of chained and caparisoned elephants which were not allowed to

move their feet for more than 3 or 4 hours and should stand in the scorching

sun )

Another feather to their achievement as per the State A.H.D.is that this

SPCA has co ordinated with the state AHD in conducting so many seminars and

awreness campaigns--like how to make poultry farming a successful

venture/goat rearing and modern mutton processing technologies.

Any comments?

Dear Mr. Babu,

Many thanks for bringing this to my notice, although I am sure that

this is something which is perhaps already in the knowledge of our

stalwarts of animal rights and welfare in India.

I must say that there is nothing impossible if we try.

If this gentleman has tried to play a Hitler sitting right under the

nose of the AWBI and more so doing it publicly and then again gets a

pat on his back from the Government for all his misdeeds. This in a

country which boasts of strict animal laws and rules.

Now let us ask a few question to ourselves.

Have we the animal people (minus AWBI) ever tried to target this

gentleman for his alleged offenses?

Has any AWO ever attempted to drag this SPCA or the head to court for

the alleged offenses?

There are over a thousand organisations working all over India

recognised by the AWBI (correct me if I am wrong).

If all decide to hit out at this, I wonder why success cannot be achieved.

Also why do platforms such as 'Asia for Animals', Board meetings of

the AWBI etc not serve as discussion gatherings to debate, highlight

or expose these irregularities.

Chennai AFA could have been the best place to have this exposed.

Jallikattu was discussed with such passion, just how did we miss out

Pllakad SPCA Secretary???

Why do we always project this 'Goody Goody' Universal image for all

AWOs. Certainly all is not well.

A cover up or if left unchecked such actions can snowball into exactly

what this head of Pallakad SPCA has been doing.

PETA-India has done a commendable job by not only going after the

animal abusers from outside our community but have taken this up

within our platform of animal people to check and correct such things.

I also understand it may not be easy for an organisaiton or individual

to go public with facts and figures of any kind of an expose on

another individual or an AWO. Well in that case kindly do send in your

grievances to PETA-India.

So be candid, but let just contribute as best as you can to get the

ugly truths exposed.

Thanks,

Azam

Is this also not illegal under the Wildlife Protection Act and the

Performing Animal Welfare Rules?
