Guest guest
Black ibis spotted in Ludhiana village Kanchan Vasdev Tribune News Service Ludhiana, January 4 Ludhiana has something to rejoice about after gaining notoriety as the most polluted city of the state as a village in this district has invited the attention of migratory birds that have flocked Ballowal village this winter. The city can now boast of these winged vistors, who are roosting on treetops of the village for the last one month. Identified as Black ibis by experts, the winged visitors were spotted by the villagers who called experts curiously to know about the birds who were spotted there. After the confirmation came from the experts, the villagers are now inviting people to come and have a look at the birds. The villagers are themselves observing them very closely. The experts feel that the birds seem to be visiting the village in search of food but there was definitely a change in the pattern of their winter visits. It was worth studying. It would help the ornithologists to study what was making the birds choose a village in Punjab while they were giving Nangal a miss for the past many years. The black birds with bald head and a patch of crimson red, and a white patch near shoulders, first attracted the attention of a curious nature lover, Raghubir Singh, who contacted Dr Sandeep K Jain, member, Punjab State Board for Wildlife and Chief Coordinator, CAPE-India to know about the birds. ...............
