Indian tap water isn't vegan: it contains too many animate life forms.

U.S. tap water contains few if any animate life forms, but

our sewers are full of alligators & Ninja turtles.

Filtration typically removes particulate matter larger than

five microns, but is not to be confused with purification, which

may be done by chlorination, iodization, ultraviolet light,

radiation, or electroshock without removing particulate matter at

all.

Complete water treatment plants typically include both

filtration and purification, since neither one is sufficient to

guarantee the safety of water by itself.

I skipped the Chennai hotel water in favor of the excellent

Indian beer.

Merritt Clifton is bang on target on the comparative vegetarian/vegan nature

of Indian water compared to American water, I think we have a lot to learn

from the Americans in this regard(At least as far as having crocodiles and

turtles in water and drains). I too skipped the Chennai hotel water,

although I am Indian and would possibly have survived the onslaught of

animate life forms present therein. I went out with my friends and drank

copious quantities of whisky and vodka.
