The Star and the New Straits Times say the dried skins were hidden in the trunk of a car that customs officials in northern Kedah state stopped on Friday. The skins are worth 90,000 ringgit ($25,800) in total. The skins, each more than six feet (two meters) long, are from Malayan tigers. There are only about 500 of the cats left in the world, the vast majority in Malaysia. The Times says the two Thai men are being investigated for smuggling protected wildlife and could face a maximum of five years in jail. Officials could not immediately be reached to confirm the reports on Saturday. -- http://www.stopelephantpolo.com http://www.freewebs.com/azamsiddiqui
