(IN) Elephant brought for the shoot turns amok, killing its mahout-Film company served notice

It is amazing how the most literate state (Kerala) has the most uneducated

population.

 

How many MORE deaths is the question that Debasis should have asked.

 

The AWBI acted with great speed in sending a show cause notice by 10 am on

Thursday, July 30th.

 

The AWBI have received no reply so far. Of course, we can expect Mr. Mani

Rathnam and his high profile stars to now say that the elephant was not

brought from Trissur (or whereever) for the shoot.As a member of the film

committee of the AWBI, I can only ask educated people to follow the rules

and apply for pre-shoot permission; observe the conditions when the

pre-shoot NOC is given and ensure that there is no cruelty to the animals

involved.

 

The AWBI film committee is totally transparent and no legitimate request

is ever withheld but I wonder whether we have the same committment from

the film fraternity.

PS: The film committee meets once in two weeks and all the members serve

100% pro-bono, losing most alternate Thursdays in the process.
