*Elephant dies from electrocution *

 

KOTTAYAM: An elephant, owned by Jacob Antony of Thambalakkad. was

electrocuted to death at Mainckal, near Peruvanthanam, on Sunday. The police

said the elephant was killed on the spot on coming into contact with sagging

11-kV lines while being carried on a lorry to a worksite at Chennappara, on

the way to Mathamba, on the Kottayam-Idukki border. Hundreds of people

thronged the spot. Forest officials have reached the spot.

 

The lorry took a diverted route as a culvert was under construction on the
