Guest guest
Ya know, on second thought, if it saves just one goat from being eaten or abused, GAP may be worth it. I think we have to be a little more opened minded. Maybe having a goat for a pet would be fun?!? I know my dog would love a playmate that ran around like crazy and ate everything in sight. Kindred spirits and all... Guest guest
Dear All, Actually Mr Michael Hubert who had this project called me after getting my letter. I was not available so he called three times rather than wait for me to call back. We had a long conversation where he told me that he had grown up with goats in the house and then one day they were sent to slaughter. He was very sad and stopped eating non veg though he is a Christian (but still eats and loves fish). He saw this as a means to get non vegetarians to stop eating mutton. However after I talked to him, he understood that this plan also involves cruelty and has decided not to do it. Anyway the plan has not been started, he does not have the land and so nothing is about to happen as yet. What he had wanted was support for his project. We discussed and he agreed that goats do not belong in urban areas, and that if he gave them away as pets, people may sell them etc. So now his plan in only to rescue a few goats and teach children about the love of goats. He is going to write a new proposal and send me a copy. Incase any of you would like to talk to him, I have his number and he is a reasonable and quite decent person but I think at the moment we can wait to see his new proposal. Regards, Nandita
