* of Punjab State Lottery – Reg. *

*We have received reliable information that Punjab State Lotteries has

produced and telecasted an advertisement in T.V Channels showing the

performance of Monkeys.*

*You may be aware that the performances of five animals Viz., Lion,

Tiger, Panther, Monkey and Bear are banned as per the Notification

No.G.S.R.619(E) dated 14, October, 1998 issued by the Government of India. *

*The Govt. of India has notified the Performing Animals (Registration)

Rules, 2001 under Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960 and therefore,

" any performing animal " used for any performance has to be registered with

the Animal Welfare Board of India, Govt. of India. The performing animals

used in the serials/Ad films should first apply to the Board for pre-shoot

permission for carrying out the shooting and after shooting the stills and

clippings, wherever the performing animals are used should be submitted

through a C.D. for post shoot approval from the Board. After receipt of the

" No Objection Certificate " from the Board, the Film, Ad Film and Serials can

be telecasted. *

*May I therefore, request you to immediately stop the telecasting of

the above Ad film using Monkeys as it is a violation of the abovesaid Rules

and to take immediate action against the defaulters who have violated the

laws. *

*Action taken in this regard may kindly be intimated to us. *
