Guest guest
 UPDATE WORLD ANIMAL DAY – EVENTS – JBF(Just Be Friendly) New Delhi & Guwahati 4th October 2008 – In New Delhi & Guwahati JBF organized different events to observe the World Animal Day. On this occasion JBF organized Quiz competition on animals among children of JBF Informal School – Viklang Basti Unit which is a poor slum cluster in south Delhi. The children were quite enthusiastic & took part in full confidence. For the younger group there was a small play related to animals to give an idea about the welfare of animals. Prizes were distributed among the children who got positions in the quiz competition.  Another event to mark the World Animal Day was the Anti Rabies vaccination drive for the Homeless Dogs in the nearby areas of the JBF Informal School – Viklang Basti Unit covering Prabhu Basti, Lodhi Road, and CGO. This was impossible without the help of Mrs Amanda Seth – Animal Welfarist & a team from another animal welfare organization Friendicoes-Seca. 27 dogs were vaccinated and 1 dog was taken for Animal Birth Control operation & 1 for the maggot wound treatment by Friendicoes-Seca.  The JBF team has also visited personally the cattle keepers place at Kotla Mubarakpur area spreading the awareness on Animal Welfare. The cattle keepers were again requested to take proper care of the cattle by providing shelter, food & vet help rather then tying them in the bank of the drain & letting them to take food from the Garbage pit.  It is also worthy to mention that JBF organized an Awareness drive amongst School Children (especially on the occasion of World Animal Day 2008) at Guwahati, Assam, India. Keeping in view of World Animal Day and growing interest & enthusiasm in Animal Welfare issues, JBF provided a basic knowledge on this emerging subject to the children of our society through a lecture in different schools of Guwahati. The Flyer – “RABIES: What you need to know†was distributed among school children & general public to create awareness about Animal Welfare. Besides conducting the lectures in different schools, JBF also organized an Anti-Rabies vaccination camp and also inaugurated locally made environment friendly Dog Kennels at Animal Relief Centre on this occasion of World Animal Day. These kennels will help JBF to increase the number of ABC operation & to provide rehabilitation facility to more homeless dogs.  “JBF is working for the animals since a long back & will continue its effort to reach its vision to help building a prospective society through animal welfare where co-existence of human and animal is symbiotic†says Dr. Sashanka S. Dutta – Chief Functionary of JBF, who is also a co-opted member of Animal Welfare Board of India, Ministry of Environment & Forests.
