For four years Changsha Small Animal Protection Society (CSAPS) has successfully run a well-respected animal rescue shelter. However, just over a month ago, the society’s Director, Xiao Xu and his staff, together with more than one hundred dogs and cats, were forced to hastily relocate after the local government decided to build housing on the shelter land. They were fortunate to be able to relocate to a disused retirement home. However the building was abandoned for a long time, so before they could move in last month, a lot of fundamental work needed to be carried out. Send a gift to CSAPS Please donate today and help CSAPS renovate their retirement home into an animal shelter that offers high welfare standards for their 100 dogs and cats. This included cleaning and repairing the buildings and the grounds, plus installing new plumbing, lighting and heating systems, and a septic tank for the animal faeces. <http://www.naturewatch.eu/imgs/CSAPS_relocation1.jpg> <http://www.naturewatch.eu/imgs/CSAPS_relocation2.jpg> Urgent building work before moving in. However, to provide the animals with a shelter that offers high welfare standards and adequate facilities, a huge amount of work still needs to be done; and with their extremely limited resources, improvisation and innovation will be essential. To help, Naturewatch is financing the visit of expert David Barnes to the shelter later this month. David Barnes has a long history of helping many animal welfare centres around the world to improve their welfare standards, and is going to advise CSAPS on how they can best develop their retirement home into a functional and resourceful shelter. CSAPS is new to the concept of international aid and the team are extremely grateful for the financial support we have been able to give them so far. Yet they need a further £8000 at least for a complete upgrade, including a new roof, an exercise yard, some fundamental veterinary equipment, and any proposed recommendations by David Barnes. To help the dedicated team at CSAPS transform their retirement home into a shelter that implements high welfare standards, please consider donating today <https://www.secure-server-hosting.com/secutran/secureforms/sh213298/donate.html\ > . Your gift will be sent to CSAPS to build an innovative and functional shelter for their growing number of dogs and cats.
